IMED - Istituto Mediterraneo del Design, a non-profit institution founded in 1991, to promote Higher Education, Vocational Training, Research in the fields of design and Job Placement of human resources specialised in designing and realising of creative ideas able to innovate the economic-productive system of the Mediterranean, in a sustainable way.

The courses offered by the iMED are focused on design: architecture, interior and furniture, fashion, media, etc. The curriculum, led by Italian and international teachers, is characterised by an holistic approach and by interactive lectures, workshops and laboratories, tours in the field, internship and international opportunities, seminars with excellent experts from the labour market, such as Renato Balestra, Ampelio Bucci, Francesco Martini Coveri, Riccardo Dalisi, Massimo Iosa Ghini, Alessandro Mendini, Oscar Niemeyer etc.

The principal aim of the learning courses is to give to students hands-on experience with reality and development of the labour market, providing them the appropriate and suitable know-how in order to understand it and to intervene. To achieve such objective the curriculum deal with creative, cultural, social, economic, productive and innovative aspects that together make up the ITALIAN STYLE system. During the studies, much time is dedicated to the English language skills, the use of digital device, mobility component and alternation education/work.

The iMED has an ISO 9001:2008 Quality Management System certified to offer higher and continuing education and it’s recognised by the Calabria Region. It carries out research, consulting and projects for firms and organisations. It provides information on training possibilities and/or job vacancies through the help desk called Open Works. It publishes books and essays. It has a specialised library on design. iMED is also the first AATC/e, Apple Authorised Training Centre for education, in south Italy.

Almost the twenty years of activity of the iMED are the result of a close collaboration between public and private organisations such as schools, universities, research bodies, vocational training centres, firms, to encourage job matching, according to the needs expressed by the labour market. Since 2001, iMED is founder member of the non-profit consortium called fis’D - integrated higher education of Design, composed of leading international organisations of education and research (details on www.fisd.eu).

Enrolment to the courses is open to all those that share with us the passion for Design, have acquired interest and knowledge and want to up date it, to those that want to acquire them and to those that want learning by doing. iMED activities are often co-financed by the EU, Italian Republic and Calabria Region, through the ESF-European Social Fund.

Strong of an excellent qualification, the job opportunities of those who attend our courses are the self-employment, collaboration with technical offices or companies, publishing.
Analysing the data of the student work placement, the iMED has registered in the last 5 years an employment rate up to 87%, after twelve months that students get the final certificate. This result ranks iMED as an international reference point for students, companies and professionals. Welcome to iMED, the perfect place to study.
